Jerry Borga was arguably the best all-around athlete that EHS has seen. He graduated in 1965 and lettered in four sports: Football, Basketball, Track, and Baseball. Jerry was a player and leader on the Easton High Baseball Team. During the four years he played, EHS had only three losses. Jerry's regular position was third base, but he would play any position his coach needed. Jerry was a superb third-baseman. He had a strong and incredibly accurate arm, was quick as a fielder, and could make the difficult plays required by a third baseman. His EHS Coach, John Leverage, described Jerry as a "Brooks Robinson" quality-type player.
After high school, Jerry continued his baseball career, excelling at Western Maryland College, where he was awarded the State Collegiate Batting Crown with a .435 batting average. He was named First Team Third Baseman on the Mid-Atlantic All-Star Team and the Baltimore Sun
All-Maryland Team. Jerry was also selected to be on the US All-Star Team. He played in the 20th Annual Hearst Sandlot Classic at Yankee Stadium, where he belted a home run over the left-center field 371-foot sign on the first time at bat. He was also selected for the Orioleland All-Star team. Jerry was drafted by the Houston Astros in 1965.
